Yesterday we met with Barbara Varenhorst, the psychologist who will be running the training, and discussed what the training will entail and picked out dates for the training.
Below are some of the topics that we will be discussing at the trainings, but there will be a lot role-playing and practicing various techniques:
-Recognizing non-verbal behavior
-Welcoming strangers to a group
-death and dying
-referrals to professional help-how and when
The first training will be next Thursday February 11th (the staff development day) from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Library. We wanted to try and best fit everyone’s schedules and not take class/extracurricular time, so we decided to have the long training on this day. If you are interested receiving training, coming to this meeting is crucial. Gunn will provide lunch for everyone participating in the training, so there will be free food and snacks!
There will be two to three follow-up meetings. One is set for Thursday March 11th after school from 2:15-4:15 (it may end earlier), and the other is TBD.
Please respond to this email, or email firstname.lastname@example.org by this weekend if you will be able to make next Thursday’s meeting. We need to get a final list of people who are coming. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us back.
Thank you so much for your time. This training will be well-worth it!
Have a fantabulous day,
Joyce, Esther, and Yoni
